PRODUCTION BASICS
Combine your skills
Building on our How to Film and How to Edit workshops, this face to face one day workshop will combine all the skills we have shown you and help you to produce your own videos. We will show you how to create a script and shot list. The emphasis of this course is correct production and filming. This course is delivered at your premises and the subject matter would be something we can set up easily at your location. The workshop runs using your camera or smartphone with the editing on your laptop.
Assumed knowledge – builds on How to Film and How to Edit workshops, or your existing reasonable knowledge of cameras and editing
Equipment needed – your camera/smartphone and laptop
Editing software – recommend download of Adobe Creative Cloud
Learning Objectives of How to Make a Film workshop:
To be aware of camera angles and shot sizes
How to script and storyboard/shot list
Framing and composition
Be aware of the impact and difference in looking to the side of the camera and to interviewee
Have an awareness of shooting environment, source best locations
To see the differences in how lighting can improve the most basic of set ups
How to structure and conduct B roll filming
Understand the importance of clear project management
See how to ingest assets for editing
Basic timeline assembly, laying out of master sequence
Awareness of title tool and how it works
Demonstrate simple effects tools
Awareness of export options
